TransEngen™ Provides Unique Technology for Patient Payment Integration
Efficiencies, Cost Savings and Enhanced Connectivity Driving Provider Demand

WILTON, Conn., Apr 17, 2012

TransEngen, Inc., a leading provider of patient payment processing solutions for healthcare, announced it has successfully integrated its payment platform with several more practice management systems (PMS) and hospital information systems (HIS). Traditional payment systems operate in a stand-alone fashion and are not connected to a PMS or HIS. The result is a labor-intensive environment where administrative staff must manually track patient payment data at check-in as well as post payments back into their system once the patient encounter has concluded.

The TransEngen payment platform, called the "Revenue Maximizer," has successfully been integrated for customers using a variety of leading practice management systems in the past and now includes GE Centricity(R), NextGen(R), Medisoft(R), and Cerner(R), among others.

"What makes our Revenue Maximizer solution unique is our ability to work with a variety of patient payment transactions and convert them into file formats that can be ingested directly into multiple practice management systems and hospital information systems," said Michael Pileggi, Executive Vice President of Sales at TransEngen. "When you are able to take a VISA transaction, convert it into an HL7 file or XML file format, automatically post it into the patient's billing record and then notify the patient via email that their card has been processed and no balance is due, you have created a very connected, efficient and precise revenue management cycle."

Because patient payment is now a significant portion of a providers' overall revenue -- almost 30%, according to the Medical Group Management Association -- it is critical that providers assess and collect payment from patients at the point of care which is creating demand for virtual payment platforms that are not only PCI certified, but more importantly HIPAA compliant.

"When healthcare organizations make the upgrade from a credit card terminal to a HIPAA compliant payment platform that can take any form of payment from anywhere, anytime they soon begin to ask for more connectivity to their PMS or HIS as well as to their patients," added Pileggi. "We are delivering that payment connectivity from the front office to the back office and to the patients via email transaction notifications."
Healthcare organizations comprising over 30,000 providers* of varying specialties and facility types across the U.S. are using TransEngen's platform to drive efficiencies that reduce costs, improve cash flow, and reduce patient bad debt.
